EXCLUSIVE: Jewelry Maker Jacquie Aiche Launches Men’s Collection

L.A.-based jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche, known for her luxe yet bohemian aesthetic, will release a men’s collection on Oct. 17.
“I feel blessed to work with some of the most creative men, who inspire me endlessly,” said Aiche in a statement to WWD. “Over the past year, the demand for a men’s collection was growing stronger and stronger. These men pushed me to finally launch it.”
Aiche has found success with her line of stackable necklaces, bracelets and rings. She offers goddess-inspired anklets and body jewelry like diamond halter bras or belly chains. There’s a sexy, whimsical feel to her brand, an ease to it all, and yet it’s fine jewelry, made with diamonds, precious stones and, naturally, “healing” crystals; currently on her site, items range from $ 27,500 for a diamond “Elizabeth” necklace to $ 350 for a 14-karat gold ear cuff.

The new men’s line includes necklaces, bracelets, rings and customized Rolex watches.

It’s all handcrafted in L.A., rooted in Beverly Hills at Aiche’s showroom. Those in the know — stylists who borrow pieces for clients or photo shoots and celebrity fans that include Rihanna, Charlize Theron, Gigi and Bella Hadid — frequent the property, a house with a backyard garden

Tiny Harris Loses $750,000 In Jewelry After Lamborghini Burglarized

World Premiere of ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ - Arrivals

Source: Nicky Nelson/WENN.com / WENN

It appears that someone took T.I.‘s infamous “you can have whatever you like” line a little too literal.

According to WSB-TV and FOX 5 in Atlanta, on Sunday (Oct.6) Tameka “Tiny” Harris was the victim of a car burglary when the Xscape songstress was having drinks with friends.

During the social visit, Tiny reportedly left a few of her valuables in her car, including more than $ 750,000 in jewelry. Reports indicate that the list of high priced jewelry included Tiny’s wedding ring, watches, and stud earrings which were left in the Family Hustle stars SUV inside a velour bag hidden in her center console.

Tiny told police that she parked her SUV near Atlanta’s Bar Amalfi around 8:45 p.m. and had some drinks with a friend at the bar before returning to her vehicle an hour later, discovering her property was stolen.

Despite the theft taking place a few hours earlier, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Harris didn’t report the theft until 11:23 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, Atlanta police investigator James White told the publication in a statement, “There were no signs of forced entry or damage observed to the vehicle.”

WSB-TV also reports that security was present at the parking lot and didn’t notice anything suspicious, leading police to look to video surveillance for answers.

In other T.I. and Tiny news, the Hip-Hop couple were front, center and stylish at the grand opening of film director Tyler Perry’s massive new studio in the couple’s home town.

The public appearance comes just one week after the loss of Tiny’s godson and close family friend, Marquinarius Sanchez Holmes.

“I don’t think u know how many ppl you touched & changed their lives brother @chezdaking but I promise we gone keep your name alive. Make sure your kids are straight & make u proud!! 3 of your artist in this pic… but all your family!! Missing u & all your light like crazy!! Took me forever to write this but I finally got thru it!! Rest up lil brother..& watch how we turn up for you!! 👑💔💔💔😪😪😪 #OurFamiliesNewestAngel

The theft is currently under investigation.

How an Instagram Style Star’s Colorful Nepalese Roots Inspire Her Jewelry Line

Arpana Rayamjhi

If ever there were a Kathmandu hometown style hero, Nepalese artist and jewelry designer Arpana Rayamajhi might just be the woman. The 28-year-old New York City transplant, who possesses a colorfully chic Instagram feed and an equally vibrant line of accessories inspired by her birthplace, certainly serves as a creative style envoy for the South Asian country. Whether donning an allover rainbow-bright printed madras ensemble, layering a black moto jacket with intricately beaded and feathered necklaces, or posting throwback images to her account of Nepalese women festooned with gilded septum rings and strands upon strands of jewelry, Rayamajhi showcases not only her command of color but a striking balance of ethnic traditions and Western urban style. Here, the stunning globe-trotter reveals how her creative upbringing and the older generations of Nepalese women inspire her worldly, modern look.

Colorful Roots
I grew up in Nepal surrounded by patterns and color—a huge part of celebrations, festivities, and religious rituals there. But it was only after living in New York for a couple years that I really started wearing a lot of color. Having some distance from home and seeing it from a different perspective led me to incorporate pieces not just from Nepal but elsewhere too. And as my clothes got more colorful, I started wearing a lot more jewelry—hair ornamentations, beads, silver and gold jewelry.

The Ultimate Style Inspo
Ethnic women in Nepal look so incredibly ornate, I can’t help but be influenced in every possible way. Each ethnic group in Nepal is distinctly different from one another and we all look original. It’s also a dying culture now that more and more people are adopting Indian saris or a more modern, Western wardrobe—which in their own way are very beautiful, too. That phenomenon is happening around the world and it seems unstoppable, but it makes me so sad to see that spirit of identity and adornment take a very homogenous form. So I wear a lot of things that are very specific to certain cultures because there are so many beautiful things the world has to offer.

All in the Mix
I mix mostly jewelry and accessories from Nepal and elsewhere with the clothes I buy mainly in New York City and Tokyo. The jewelry has a traditional sensibility and the clothes are more modern in some ways: a mix of thrift and vintage finds and smaller designers, along with ethnic or quirky jewelry from my own line or my travels. Summer of 2015 was a lot of traveling for me. I was in Mexico, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, and then I took off for Europe and drove around France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. I bought some lava rocks in Indonesia, and then some of the best vintage things I have, I bought in Japan. Even the thrift stores are incredibly clean, curated, and a fun experience. Japan always inspires me with its originality and craziness, and Mexico is a psychedelic wonderland in and of itself with the beads, colors, and amazing clothes.

Artistic Beginnings
My dad was making a lot of drawings and paintings but had to get a job to support his family. My mother was an actor; she was especially detail-oriented and loved clothes, jewelry, and art. It was encouraged in my family, so I always had ideas and was making things. Living and going to art school in New York City introduced a whole new understanding of a different culture and aesthetics.

Enter Arpana Jewels
I graduated Cooper Union in 2015. I’d done mainly paintings, drawings, and sculptures, but the jewelry line started when I was still in school and looking for pieces that were unique. That made me start making my own and in 2014 I founded my jewelry line, Arpana Jewels. It’s all one-of-a-kind pieces influenced by ethnic-pop culture, rock ’n’ roll, death, and humor. My first series, The Melancholy Death of the Urchin Girl, is inspired by Tim Burton’s book The Melancholy Death of the Oyster Boy. My second series is Wanderlust, inspired by Björk’s song of the same name. Skulls are huge symbols in my work, and so is humor; I like to play on words with my titles. I’m in the process of releasing new work where I address sociopolitical and environmental issues; it’s called Have a Heart.

The Secret to Layering Jewelry
There is never such a thing as too much jewelry—well, at least not in my world. The way I go about layering my jewels is just by picking what I have and putting them together; it’s not systematic. I think that’s why it works. I don’t have any specific go-to pieces or accessories because everything is always rotating. It’s a game, and so it has to be fun.

What the Most Stylish Women Wear to Work: Jewelry Designer Jennifer Fisher

jennifer fisher 9 to 5

While plenty of celebrities (Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kim Kardashian West, to name a few) and other women in the know have clamored to dot their lobes, wrap their wrists, and clasp their necks with the covetable and edgy jewelry of Jennifer Fisher since the line’s inception in 2005, it’s also the designer’s enviable personal style that has piqued plenty of attention. As sculptural and experimental as her own statement-piece jewelry, the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist and working mom documents all on her lively Instagram feed, including her rotating inventory of outfits as she navigates the whirlwind schedule of manning her New York City–based showroom and stores. With a shock of color, a play on proportion and pattern, plenty of wit, and a stack of her own rings, Fisher shows her slew of followers that, just as with her own accessories, she’s all about the details.

But as the stylist turned jewelry designer recently explained, it’s all about a great base of denim and heels that gets her through a hard day of work and to any of the events she attends afterward. Here, Fisher reveals her favorite blues, why Fashion Week allows her to really experiment with her style, and how her jewelry dictates her workday ensembles.

The Charm of the Jewelry Business
Becoming a jewelry designer was not planned. After being a stylist for more than 10 years I was used to making custom pieces for clients when I could not find what they wanted, or I wanted, in the market. After the birth of my son Shane I scoured every high-end designer store to find the perfect piece of jewelry to wear to represent my son, and when I couldn’t find what I was looking for I went out and made my own. At the time, I was working on set and the response was so incredible that I started making similar pieces for friends and family. There was so much demand for my charm necklace that I started my own website selling the charms, necklaces, and bracelets directly from my bedroom, filling orders whenever I was not on set. It turned out there were thousands of women and men looking for the same bespoke pieces of fine jewelry and my business was born.

Daily Routine
My typical workday begins after I drop my children off at school and I’m usually in the office by 9:00 a.m., unless there is an out-of-office meeting. My day is a mix of different responsibilities. I am always working with my in-house PR team on what items are being pulled for certain celebrities and magazines. I always weigh in on the pulls. Because of my earlier career, I am familiar with what stylists need on set, so I like to always add a few extra pieces in the mix. Then there is a production meeting so I can be updated on the status of my designs for outside projects, collaborations, and, of course, planning for the next season.

I always like to pop into the store space during client appointments to see what people are buying and what they would like to see added to the line—it’s the best way to gauge the marketplace and what direction we should be leaning in for the next season. I always try to design for at least two hours a day. We have many more pieces per season because of the brass and the fine line, so it’s necessary to keep up on both collections. These days I am attending dinners or events most nights, but I always run home after work to see my kids before I go out. I’m an avid cook, so I make most dinners for them and it gives us some time to spend together before I have to dash.

It’s All About That Bling-Bling
My workwear definitely changed with careers, but the shift was seamless. I have always been informal in dressing down designer pieces for day to night, so my wardrobe hasn’t changed much except I was a bit more L.A. when I started—now it’s moved into a more minimal New York feel. I always base my look off of the jewelry I want to wear for the day or night and go from there. I have noticed that over the last few seasons I have started to pull away from piling on so much jewelry, though. Lately I’m favoring one statement cuff and one finger stacked with multiple rings over a ton of jewelry everywhere.

I always rotate the fine jewelry I wear on a daily basis; for instance, I am constantly readjusting my signature charms onto different length chains. However, my go-to earrings are our diamond pin front and back earrings; they’re my favorite update to the daily diamond stud. I am also never without a stack of my customized burnished cuffs. I love to mix the fine jewelry with the brass jewelry. I’m loving the idea of the single statement earring right now, specifically my silver-plated brass version, as well as my Chaos collection from Spring 2016. One earring worn with an earcuff on the opposite ear and one finger with multiple stacked rings stacked is my favorite evening look right now.

A Denim Girl at Heart (and Work)
I love denim, so most days it’s denim for me, which ranges from either my favorite hand-painted pair from Trico Field to my long-cuffed wide-leg Chloé jeans to my high-waisted Gucci with gold military buttons, or my favorite Frame Denim Le Garcon high-waisted flares. I elevate them by wearing a Gucci or Chloé silk blouse. Adding one of those and a heel instantly changes the look and lets me go from day to night. I bought an amazing J.W.Anderson black-and-white velvet top, as well as a silver metallic top—these are my current two favorites for going out. With a pop of color from my new Loewe orange red wristlet, I’m good to go!

I’ve been adding knits from Tome and a red marketed knit from Balenciaga, which is my current fall favorite. I like knits that are chunky yet structured, which can sometimes be hard to find. I love this new Mira Mikati coat that the designer gifted me in Paris—it’s the perfect gray-green coat that has Hello and OMG in felt in multiple colors; it matches everything. I also purchased a few new Sacai jackets. I am a collector of Sacai—basically, anything Sacai goes in my closet. My jackets range from puffy bombers to leather and cotton army green swing coats. Also, The Row for simple black dresses, and Dries Van Noten and Marni for prints.

The Shoes, the Bags
I am never a flats girl—it’s just not my thing. If I have early meetings I will leave my house in heels and throw a pair of sneakers in my bag. For heels it’s all about Loewe, Céline, Chloé, and Vetements for fall. I just got the Loewe Column Ring ankle boots with the gray, white, and blue–striped toe and they are so comfortable and work day to night. I also keep a pair of Céline slides under my desk that are my work “slippers.” No matter what I’m wearing I always throw those on and off during the workday. I hate being formal at my desk, so changing is always a must. Sometimes I change in and out of an outfit a couple of times a day so I don’t have to sit in it! I have my own closet in the office that I hang everything in.

I always have a cross-body bag on me: It makes everything easier for days when I am on the move from morning until night. I have multiple colors of the Céline Cabas tote that I throw my laptop in, along with anything I need for the day. Right now, I’m loving the bright blue version. My new favorite is a Louis Vuitton that I picked up during Paris Fashion Week with silver hardware. I also keep multiple Edie Parker clutches at work—they double as bookshelf art for my office.

Beauty Lewks
In case I need to go to an impromptu dinner or event, I keep an extra cocktail dress and multiple pairs of shoes at the office! I also keep an extra set of all my makeup, plus a few good red lip options and beauty cleansing products at my office. Otherwise, my work beauty look is always clean and minimal. I use Chantecaille tinted moisturizer daily and Tatcha eye gel masks, regardless if I’ve been out the previous night. I hate the feeling of foundation or makeup on my skin while working, so my morning routine is very basic. Moisturizer, brows, done! I have eyelash extensions, which make you look more bright and awake instantly.

The Weekend Chill
I’m with my children all weekend shuffling them to their soccer and basketball games, so I need to be mobile. I tend to stick to sneakers during the day, wearing my Alexander McQueen version of the Stan Smiths, or the Adidas Originals I customized with gold backs. I love to use the weekends to experiment with fun sunglasses as they are one of my favorite accessories. Currently I have three pairs in rotation: my Illesteva collaboration Holly frames, Loewe, or the Céline bright orange red frames. Of course.

Fashion Week Is Another Story Altogether
Fashion Week is a time to play with clothing that I might not normally think of mixing. I always have a rack that I keep out in my dressing room with a week’s worth of options. I love to pull out old favorites and use new pieces: It’s almost like the “no fear” week and anything goes. Plus it’s a great excuse to purchase a few new pieces! I also always like to wear a beanie during Fashion Week—my favorites are from Marc Jacobs. I buy all the colors every season and even double up on a few of my favorites—inevitably one goes missing in a taxi or an Uber! I attended Spring 2016 London Fashion Week as an ambassador for Net-a-Porter’s The Net Set. As the only designer who is a member of their Style Council I was thrilled to have the opportunity to experience the collections in this way; I found the shows there incredibly inspiring. Christopher Kane, Emilia Wickstead, and Erdem were the highlights of the trip and opened me up to wanting to try and wear more floral and take more color risks for spring.

Following its gala dinner at the Louvre in July, the institute will kick off its next banner initiative on Monday: a week of jewelry-centric courses held at The New School’s Parsons School of Design. The five-day program will be broken down each day into morning and afternoon sessions. Afternoons will be focused on off-site visits, such as the vault of the Museum of the City of New York, Vacheron Constantin, Christian Dior, and the home of jewelry collector Susan Gutfreund. CFDA Plans Second Jewelry Design Showcase

DISPLAY CASE: The Council of Fashion Designers of America will hold a second iteration of its CFDA Jewelry Showcase at its New York City headquarters on Oct. 26. The showcase, comprised of 17 CFDA-member labels, will act as a group press day for participants. The CFDA held its first jewelry showcase in October 2013, and has revisited the idea after an outpouring of interest from jewelry design members.
“It helped each of the participants be in front of editors that they might not have been otherwise be in front of. The power of a group is stronger than the power of one — it’s about creating a collective force,” CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb said of the outcome of the 2013 showcase.
Of the CFDA’s approximately 500 member labels, some 79 are jewelry designers.
Kolb said of the organization’s showcase concept: “It’s to really put a spotlight on jewelry designers; women’s fashion week is always a big deal and  gives lot of attention to women’s designers. We launched men’s fashion week this past summer and that put a significant spotlight on men’s, so it seemed natural…to categorize other segments of membership.”
This same idea will soon extend to realms outside jewelry as well.

Daniela Villegas Previews Spring 2016 Jewelry Collection

Entering Daniela Villegas’ Hollywood studio is like being in a curio box of sorts. There’s a wall of colorful butterflies, beetles and bugs mounted in glass boxes, and tiny quail and fish skeletons pieced together on wooden stands. These items are often the basis for her fine jewelry collection, which sells on Net-a-porter and in stores like Roseark for $ 1,875 to $ 39,000. Her “Backyard” collection, inspired by insects, incorporates real iridescent beetle heads with matching precious stones, and her “Rebirth” collection features tiny 18-karat gold animal skeletons with moving parts and gemstone eyes made from lost wax molds that are hand-carved in her downtown Los Angeles workshop.

For spring 2016, which she will show in Paris from Saturday through Tuesday, Villegas created more baubles on these themes, such as tiny, rose gold ants atop a tourmaline cabochon that looks like a cake on a lacy gold doily. Other items she pulls out of her red leather case include rainbow sapphire trapeze earrings and large carved pendants on delicate body chains. Her next collection will include pieces inspired by her recent trip to Peru. She toyed with some native woven bracelets that she plans to recreate with precious stones. “I’m always picking things up along the way,” she said. “My husband [furniture designer Sami Hayek] jokes that our

The Most Iconic Jewelry in Movies

Precious jewels have provided fodder for drama practically since drama was invented, with precious stones and trinkets used as plot devices in plays written as far back as 100 B.C. As man-made substitutes such as rhinestones, moissanite and cubic zirconium started making the market for seemingly-precious stones more, well, precious, so did the real thing become more dramatic to seek out on film. Here are a few of the most sought after, revered and iconic pieces of jewelry dramatized for our viewing pleasure.

Heart of the Ocean — Titanic

James Cameron’s box office champ offered up one eye-popping set piece after the other, not the least of which was Kate Winslet’s greatest asset. Get your mind out of the gutter! We’re talking about the legendary Heart of the Ocean necklace worn by her character, Rose. Lore has it that the diamond was originally owned by Louis XVI and cut into a heart shape after the French Revolution. Caledon Hockley (Billy Zane), the wealthy son of a Pittsburgh steel tycoon, purchased the diamond for Rose, his fiancée, who soon finds herself swooning over Leonardo DiCaprio’s starving artist, Jack Dawson.

The Pink Panther Diamond — The Pink Panther Series

The Pink Panther is a large and valuable pink diamond, first shown in the first film of the series, released in 1963, which introduced Peter Sellers’ iconic character of bumbling French police inspector Jacques Clouseau. The diamond is called the “Pink Panther,” because of the flaw at its center: when viewed closely, it is said to resemble a leaping pink panther. The phrase reappears in the title of the fourth film The Return of the Pink Panther, in which the theft of the diamond is again the center of the plot. The phrase was used for all the subsequent films in the series, even when the jewel did not figure in the plot. It ultimately appeared in six of the eleven films.

One Ring — Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Never has one piece of jewelry caused so much misery, mayhem and death as the One Ring from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The ring is deceptive: it appears on first glance to be a ring that bears invisibility upon its wearer. However, we later learn that it was crafted by Sauron the Dark Lord as part of his design to win domination over Middle-Earth. The Lord of the Rings concerns the quest to destroy the Ring to keep Sauron from fulfilling his design. This is a good example of when a simple moissanite ring would have sufficed, not to mention saved a lot of nice people headaches (and severed limbs).

Marilyn’s Diamonds — Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Marilyn Monroe’s ode to materialism, “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” might be her most signature moment in a career that produced many. Bedecked in ice from the neck down, Marilyn’s seductive jig through a parade of suitors was the ultimate symbolic salute to 1950s materialism that (depending on your POV) either blessed or cursed generations of women after. That said, few women before or since made looking sparkly quite so…sparkly.

Julia Roberts’ Necklace–Pretty Woman

When wealthy tycoon Richard Gere does a My Fair Lady-style makeover on streetwalker Julia Roberts in director Garry Marshall’s box office smash, his finishing touch is the stunning necklace he puts around her neck. Custom made by French jeweler Fred Joaillier, the necklace is made with 23 pear-cut rubies set in the centers of diamond encrusted hearts, set in 18k white gold. It’s understandable that Gere initially snaps the box shut on Roberts’ fingers as she reaches for it–we wouldn’t want to give it up, either!

007’s Rolex Submariner–The James Bond Series (Connery, Moore and Dalton)

The James Bond series established from the get-go that if you’re a world-class secret agent, only the best will do. From the series’ first film, Dr. No, in 1962, Bond wore a Rolex Submariner as his timepiece of choice. As the series progressed, the Rolex had many other functions, as well: laser beam cutter, saw, poison dart gun, etc. Designed as a diving watch by Rolex in 1954, it was largely used by military personnel until it was so popularized by the Bond films, that it remains Rolex’s top-selling model today.

007’s Omega Seamaster — The James Bond Series (Brosnan and Craig)

Bond traded his Rolex (some watch enthusiasts feel in a downward direction) for an Omega Seamaster, an equally venerable sport watch made by the famous Swiss watchmaker since 1948. With its distinctive blue bezel and face, Bond’s Seamaster can be worn with a short-sleeve shirt or a tuxedo with equal aplomb. Like its Rolex predecessors, Bond’s Omega has also been outfitted with a variety of gadgets that have gotten the superspy both into and out of hot water.

Cache of South African Diamonds — Diamonds Are Forever

Okay, so we’re James Bond fans. If you don’t like it, click on another link and be gone! In Sean Connery’s last “official” turn as James Bond (Never Say Never Again, made 12 years later, is viewed by many as a “bootleg” Bond flick), 007 poses as a diamond smuggler in order to smash a group of criminals, but uncovers a plot by old nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld to use the diamonds in the construction of a giant laser (a precursor to drone strikes, if you will) to be used as a terrorism tool from space. The diamonds act as a “McGuffin,” or forgotten plot device, until the final, very humorous shot of the film.

The Galaxy — Men in Black

No doubt the most complicated jewel on this list, Agents J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) spend most of this wild, joyful sci-fi romp seeking it out to save it, while a villainous Bug (Vincent D’Onofrio) wants to destroy it. Yes, it’s an actual galaxy containing planets filled with peaceful beings, but it’s also small. As in the size of a marble. As in it’s hanging on a collar around a cat’s neck. Protecting said galaxy around said cat’s neck becomes the mission of these top secret agents of the MIB, in what has to be the most important jewel in film history, or certainly the most populous.

The Bag of Diamonds — Reservoir Dogs

Another classic example of a McGuffin, Quentin Tarantino’s freshman directorial effort shocked many with its gleefully graphic violence and virtual iambic pentameter profanity, with a plot primarily revolving around a diamond heist gone horribly, horribly wrong, and the aftermath where the surviving thieves convene in a remote warehouse to ostensibly divide the loot. Of course, things get more complicated than that. Although we never actually see the diamonds in question, the bloodbath that ensues during the film’s duration gives little doubt as to their value, or to the talent of the man who has simply come to be known as “Q.T.”

Casa Nuestra: Mexican Sister Act Anndra Neen Adds Glassware to Its Jewelry Label

Aandra Neen glassware

Annette Stephens and Phoebe Stephens of Anndra Neen—the jewelry line renowned for its earthily chic and hammered-metal designs—are in homemaking mode: They’ve recently moved into a renovated studio in Mexico City’s Juárez neighborhood (where the company is based—the sisters grew up in the megalopolis), and now, they’re introducing items for la casa, starting with glassware.

“Our father collected Steuben glass,” says Phoebe, before Annette adds: “We wanted something that represented Mexico, but also, our childhood.” They’ve managed both to wonderful effect, forging tumblers, decanters, and ice-buckets carved with symbols of their town and youth; peacocks, which their family kept as pets; quetzals, a regally exotic bird of Mayan lore; and stars, suggesting either Mexico City’s domed nighttime skies or its endless, blinking sprawl below. (And, when you’re ready to pour your first drink, Phoebe recommends a macerated apple and gin with sparkling water, like the cocktail she serves at Melody Nelson—the bar she owns in Distrito Federal—while Annette favors a lemonade with chia seeds.)

Each piece is made entirely by hand by a local craftsman, who works in nearby Xochimilco, an entrancing suburb with floating gardens and misty canals. “Once you mess up, that’s it, you have to restart,” notes Phoebe of the meticulous skill needed to etch the vessels. The use of endemic know-how speaks to the Stephenses’ environmental and social consciousness: Their goods are low-carbon-footprint in build (everything is procured in small-batch production, with minimal waste) and artisanal in practice. “Our staff is immensely proud of what they do,” says Annette. “Now, they ask to see photos of women with the pieces—we send pictures back on WhatsApp!”
